Explore the Wider Estate
Beyond the house and gardens, Burtown opens into a very different landscape.
Paths lead through fields and woodland, past historic farm buildings and across parts of the estate still actively farmed today.
Along the way there are long views back towards the house, quieter corners beside water and glimpses into the agricultural life of the estate.
Every season changes the experience — from spring growth and wildflowers to long summer evenings, autumn colour and the quieter landscape of winter.
Stories Along the Way
The landscape at Burtown carries its history quietly.
Throughout the Farm Walks, a series of interpretation points allows you to discover some of the people, places and stories that have shaped the estate.
Using your phone, simply scan the QR codes along the route to uncover photographs, stories and archival material connected to the place in which you are standing.
Rather than following a formal guided tour, you can explore at your own pace — stopping when something catches your interest and moving on when you’re ready.
A Working Farm
Burtown remains a working family estate.
The fields, farm buildings, gardens and woodland are not simply a backdrop to the house; they have supported life here for generations and continue to form an important part of the estate today.
The Farm Walks offer an opportunity to experience that wider landscape and understand Burtown as a whole — not simply as a house and garden, but as a place shaped by farming, nature, family and time.
