The Gardens
The gardens at Burtown have evolved over generations, surrounding the house with a series of intimate and very different spaces — from the old walled kitchen garden and flower gardens to woodland, meadow and more informal planting.
Still actively gardened today, they change constantly with the seasons. Flowers are gathered for the house and tables, while fruit, vegetables and herbs make their way into the kitchens at The Green Barn.
Part of our private family estate, the gardens can be enjoyed by guests staying at Burtown and by pre-booked groups.
Farm Walks
Step beyond the gardens and discover the wider landscape of Burtown.
Our farm walks lead through fields, woodland and historic parts of the estate, offering a different perspective on the land and the generations who have lived and worked here.
Along the way, discover stories from Burtown’s past through our new self-guided interpretation points, bringing the history of the farm and landscape quietly to life as you walk.
Art at Burtown
Art has always been part of life at Burtown.
Sculpture, painting and photography appear throughout the estate — sometimes deliberately placed, sometimes encountered unexpectedly amongst gardens, woodland and buildings.
The collection continues to evolve, reflecting the creative life of the family and the many artists whose work has become part of Burtown over time.
